Uh, Hey Canada, busy Friday?

Uh, Hey Canada, busy Friday?

Went shopping last week, saw some great stuff, was reminded of the surf and turf we had in Maine and I got kinda lonely, well to tell the truth, I kinda choked up.

What, what the heck you going on about?

Well. One of those personal stories that ain’t none of your business, but lays the groundwork, so here goes. You see, I have a wife, not just any wife. But The Wife. My Partner in Crime and Partner in Life. But it took a while to get there.

You see, we each had our own baggage, well, a lot of baggage, well, we could have opened a luggage store.

But there was that thing, you know, that thing. I walked by the office window where she worked, needed insurance, took a chance and got turned down on both fronts.

But damn, she was something to behold. So on the way out, I stopped, turned and politely asked “Mind if I just stop by, say Hi and maybe flirt a little?” Silly woman, hesitated and said “okay.”

That was over 22 years ago. Ah, a marriage made in heaven, yeah, my ass. We get to celebrate our wedding anniversary in the spring by playing in the garden, in the summer going to the beach, and once again in the winter playing in the snow. You see, 22 years married 3 times to each other and it’s still a work in progress.

So Canada, Canada, I know we have been down this track before, but, I kinda miss you. And when I heard through the grapevine you were flirting with the EU, I got a little jealous, after I choked up a bit.

I know things are a bit rough right now between us, but I’m pretty sure we have that issue being taken care of, and yes, it’s going to take some time to feel comfortable, but all I’m suggesting is maybe a little walk on a Vancouver beach, you know, get away from that Eastern craziness.

That’s what happens when we let others get involved, they get all controlling and think they know what is best for us, and we let them get away with it until we realize all they were interested in was what was best for themselves. They didn’t care about us and it made us question each other. Innuendo, lies and suspicion. A hard thing to ignore.

Anyway, I think we will have that disruption under control soon, and we really did have a pretty good thing going until someone decided sharing, respect, and having each other’s back wasn’t good enough.

Maybe a nice king crab and salmon dinner and a bottle of Pinot Noir from one of my Willamette Valley wineries.

Not commitments, maybe just some nice conversation away from the noise. After all, we like the same wine, same beer, who needs that stupid partition anyway.
