Here is something I want every American to think about. You may agree with my politics, or you may not. That doesn’t matter right now. There is one very obvious, very overlooked change happening, and everyone had better wake up and take notice.
We’ve all heard the phrase “serves at the pleasure of the President.” What does it actually mean?
It means the President can hire you and fire you. That covers the Cabinet secretaries, the White House staff, and the political appointees who run the agencies.
It doesn’t cover Congress. Senators and Representatives answer to the voters. It doesn’t cover federal judges, who hold their seats for life during good behavior and can only be removed by impeachment. And it has never covered career civil servants, who are protected by law from being fired for political reasons.
Since Trump took office for the 47th time, we have seen him repeatedly try to change those terms to this:
Everyone serves at the President’s pleasure.
Yes, we’ve seen the lawsuits. We’ve seen the court battles. We’ve seen the White House ignore rulings, to the point that I now wonder whether the rule of law is enforceable anywhere outside of traffic court.
And we are seeing the Roberts Court.
So here is my morning take. Saturday night 10/03/2026 , at a rally in Vandalia, Ohio, Trump said:
“And now we are on the cusp of beating the communists, socialists, radicalized lunatics, and villains once and for all. We’re going to put them down once and for all, because the United States of America will never be a communist country.”
Notice who he’s labeling. It isn’t a policy, it’s a list of people, and it’s open-ended. If you stand against him, you get a label. He does love his labels.
Before you think I’m wandering off course, I’m not. I believe that very soon, if this isn’t stopped, just being an American will be defined as being at the pleasure of the President. I believe that is his ultimate goal, his ultimate grab for power. It doesn’t matter whether you’re liberal, progressive, conservative, woke, or MAGA. That should scare the shit out of you.
And if it isn’t stopped, and you need someone to blame, go into your bathroom and look in the mirror.
